Elite Summer Program

Catered to sectional/national and international level players

Individualized training programs for players focused on technical improvements, tactical and strategic understanding, mental toughness/mentality development, and fitness.

June 16 - August 15

This training program will take place between June 16 - August 15. Camp will be 1 - 5 PM Monday thru Friday at Holmes Middle School (6525 Montrose Street, Alexandria, Virginia).

Our summer training program focuses on improving players’ technical skills, understanding strategy and tactics, developing mental toughness, improving fitness, and taking ownership of their own games. Daily themes/groupings will be based on players' individual needs. The camp will include drilling, point play/match play, and fitness components. Players must be approved by coaches for participation.

Our goal is to train our players professionally with high intensity, discipline, and focus. We want all of our players to have clarity in the areas we aim to improve with them over the course of the summer. Coaches look to push players limits both physically and mentally to allow them to build confidence and trust in themselves and their training.

MFTA strives to provide the most specific training in the area with unique opportunities for players to grow and improve themselves. For example, players compete in 3 out of 5 set matches to push their minds, bodies, and games to the limit. We want our players to learn how to pursue excellence because we believe “once players start to chase down excellence in their tennis, they will not settle for anything less in their lives.”

Areas of Focus

Stroke Production

Emphasis on technical skills that allow players to become biomechanically efficient with their swing paths, weight transfer, and movement patterns. This training helps players to execute clean technique and footwork under pressure.

Foundational Expertise

Players’ ability to find confidence in every ball and execute each shot with consistency in practice and competition. Owning the rally ball is the key to building a solid foundation for players, allowing them to create their on-court identity. Ensuring that every player has clarity and is assertive in all areas of their game.

Tactics and Strategy

Focus on players understanding how they want to execute their points and what play patterns put them in advantageous positions. Students’ ability to structure points and break down the strengths and weaknesses of their opponents and themselves to adapt to their opponent's games.

Mental Toughness/Fortitude

We believe that tennis is a sport of adversity. Players must be able to handle and overcome adverse situations during the course of their training and matches. We aim to put players in challenging situations which mentally prepare them for high-performance competition.

Fitness

Players’ physical fitness translates into their confidence and inner strength. We look to focus on their strength, agility, endurance, flexibility, and recovery to help players compete at the highest levels.
