6-week signups: $515 (4-6 and 7-10) and $615 (11-15)

Selecting the right class:

If the player has not taken many group lessons before, then simply select the class corresponding to their age. If they have taken group lessons before, then they should take a class that corresponds to their USTA class level (e.g., Red (6 and under), Orange (7-10), Yellow (11-15)). Our instructors are trained to handle variations in the experience and skill levels of individuals in group classes.

Racquet sizing:

Here are some suggested racquet sizes.

Age: USTA level: Racquet length

4-6: Red: 19-21

7-10: Orange: 23-25

11-12: Green: 25-27

13+: Yellow: 27 (adult size)

Player-to-coach ratio:

The ratio of students to instructors will depend on the number of students registered for each class and the number of instructors available. However, the maximum ratio of students to instructors will not exceed 6:1. The minimum number of students required for a class will be five. Due to players dropping in for makeup classes, there may be slight variations in ratio occasionally.

Class curriculum:

Curriculum: In response to some of the feedback we received from last year’s summer program we want to focus on creating a more structured curriculum with specific areas of focus and progression:

4-6 Year Olds

The 4-6 year olds will focus on basic fundamentals of forehands, backhands, volleys and look to introduce the basics of the serve. In addition, we will look to add athletic development skills like balance, coordination, and racquet skills. We will couple this with fun games to ensure they develop a love of the sport. Drills include hand tosses with technical correction for forehand/backhand and volleys. Perhaps if they can advance then we will move them to racquet feeding for drills. A lot of the 4-6 year olds will focus on where they are technically and try to work through each stroke so they can learn the basics from an early age. Obviously, it is important to adapt for each week as some kids will be new and some will be in for multiple weeks.

7-10 Year Olds

For the 7-10 year olds, we will continue to look to build the technical base but also start to work into rallying and live ball. The goal will be for players to continue into more technical prowess with better footwork and understanding consistency and starting to serve. We want them to get into more rally situations so they can start to enjoy the hitting aspect of the game. This will be done through rally drills inside the service boxes, hand feeding, racquet feeding and target games. We will still ensure players enjoy games like jail and around the world so they continue to progress their love of the game!

11-15 Year Olds

For 11-15 year olds, we will do hand feeding, racquet feeding and live ball on a more intense and movement intensive level. The goal will be for players to continue to develop their technical base and be able to consistently rally. We will look to move into more point play scenarios and a better understanding of how to compete and clean up footwork patterns. We will do depth drills, consistency drills but in the full court and point play in both singles and doubles. The goal will be to get them to be able to play live games and sets by the end of the summer.

If there is a lot of variation in players week to week, then we would look to do a forehand focus on Monday, backhand on Tuesday, Volleys and Serves on Wednesday, Consistency on Thursday, and point play on Friday. We will look to split courts by level as much as possible. For older players, we will also look to get them into set and scoring formats where they can learn to compete. For all classes, we will look to develop the skills necessary for players to enjoy a lifelong sport.

Class demand:

Our goal is to include as many members as we can to allow them to participate in the programming. While we understand that families need to plan, we will look to keep everyone informed on any necessary changes.

Full classes:

If this happens, you should be asked to enter on a waitlist. We highly recommend putting your name on it as if we can add classes or options, we will look to do so!

What happens if there is rain, a cancellation, or a missed day?

If you sign up for all 6 weeks, we build 2 rain days into our pricing model. We will not make up the first 2 days, but will credit any days beyond that. We will allow players to make up in the following weeks after the 6 weeks. In our experience, we usually have 1 or 2 rain days maximum over the course of the 6 weeks. For weekly sessions, we will make up each day that is missed. This can be done by emailing us at mitchellfranktennis@gmail.com to ask for another day. We will look to find space during session 1. In the event that we cannot make up a day before the end of the session, we would allot into the weeks following.

Refund policy:

Full refunds without any penalty will be allowed through until May 10. After May 10, there will be a cancellation penalty and only a partial refund will be permitted. For a 6-week signup, any cancellation made after May 10 will be charged a $60 cancellation penalty and they will only be refunded 50% of the remaining balance.

For a weekly signup, any cancellation made after May 10 will be charged a $45 cancellation penalty but will receive a full refund if the cancellation is made at least 14 days prior to the starting day of the camp. Full refunds and transfers will not be permitted without at least 14 days’ notice. In the event that a registered student has a medical emergency less than 14 days before the scheduled start of camp, then a full refund will be provided only if a doctor’s written verification is provided prior to the start of the camp. However, there will still be a $45 cancellation penalty fee.

If a student cannot finish the camp due to a medical emergency or condition, then a partial (prorated) refund will be provided if a doctor’s note is submitted within 24 hours. There will still be a $45 cancellation penalty fee. Requests submitted after the camp session ends will not be considered.

There will be no refunds issued for missed days due to changed work or vacation schedules, sick days, or other non-emergency issues.

Communication plan:

We will send out an email to those enrolled in the next session every Sunday to remind them of class the following week. As for rapid notification, will use email to notify parents as quickly as possible. In addition, we are hoping to post to the website so that way families may check on the status of their class.

Safety plan:

We will have emergency contact forms and attendance sheets with the instructors in a folder. This will allow us to make sure no unregistered players show up and we can contact parents in the event of an emergency. We will adhere to pool guidelines on lightning and thunder (if the pool closes, we will move players inside the pool. We will make sure all students =are with a parent before leaving unless parents inform us of other arrangements. As far as injuries are concerned, an email will be sent to parents if a player is injured laying out what happened, etc. On extra warm days, we will ensure players get lots of water and we will get players into the shade should they start to show symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
